Health Officer/Health Inspector's Responsibility

The Health Officer/Health Inspector is responsible for enforcing Federal, State and Local laws pertaining to the health and safety of Rockleigh Borough.

The Health Officer/Health Inspector's responsibilities fall under a wide variety of disciplines including: food safety, occupational health, well-water supply and testing, septic tank and sanitation requirements, environmental contamination (water, air, solid waste), noise abatement, pesticides, rodent control and rabies dog bite follow-up, and enforcement of appropriate section of the Code of Rockleigh Borough.

The Health Officer/Health Inspector's work also involves the Retail Food Program. The Health Officer/Health Inspector primarily looks for violations of the State's Sanitary Code involving food handling, hygiene and other potential health problems.

The Rockleigh Board of Health consists of five (5) regular members who are volunteers and do not receive a stipend. These volunteers are Alice Layne, Marie Formoso, Zenaida Schaller, Maria Puccio, and Barbara Solomon.

The Borough of Rockleigh conrtacts with the Bergen County Department of Health Services for all health services.
