Rockleigh Borough contracts with the Borough of Northvale, NJ, for a full range of security services and resources.

Uniformed patrol presence in or near the Borough at all times is stipulated by the contract. The Closter Communications Center answers all enhanced 9-1-1 calls from Rockleigh Borough and dispatches appropriate ambulance, fire department or police response. In addition to patrol, the Northvale Police Department is the "first responder" for all automatic alarms of fire. he County of Bergen Dispatch Center (located in Mahwah, New Jersey) dispatches the Rockleigh Volunteer Fire Department and coordinates the communication needs of the Fire Department at all incidents.

The Northvale Police Department provides professional backup services and resources, including additional personnel and vehicles when needed, detective and crime investigation services, and emergency management resources.

The Inter-Local Agreement between Rockleigh and Northvale for police services is an outstanding example of the principle of shared community resources.

NJMVC Adds More Online Services

The New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission today announced it has added to its growing offering of web-based transactions, expanding the types of vehicles eligible for online registration renewals and replacements.

The additional vehicle registration categories range from four-year commercial trailers to commuter vans and ATVs. A full list is available at NJMVC.gov.

“We recognize that extended agency closures to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 have caused a hardship for many of our customers,’’ said MVC Chief Administrator Sue Fulton. “While these closures are necessary to protect the health and safety of our customers and employees, the Commission has worked diligently on multiple fronts to offset these hardships, including the addition of key online services.’’
